The 43rd Yokohama International Piano Concert
The Yokohama International Piano Concert was launched in 1982 by a planning committee composed of leading Japanese musicians and the City of Yokohama. Its purpose is to discover and bring to the attention of a wider audience promising musicians from around the world whose talents point to brilliant futures. That goal is in accord with Yokohama’s always being a launchpad for new cultural achievements. To date, more than 190 pianists have performed at this event, including many who have become renowned virtuosos, proof that this it has been achieving its goals. To perform in the Yokohama International Piano Concert has become the objective of young pianists worldwide.
In 2025, this concert will move from the Small Hall to the Main Hall of the Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall. Participants in the 43rd Yokohama International Piano Concert, both Japanese and non-Japanese, will be recruited as stated below.

- *4 pianists will be invited (tentative).
- *The piano for the concert will be a Yamaha CFX.
- *Days from November 12 to November 15 are primarily for rehearsal. The pianists will, however, also participate in related events both at and away from the hall. Events may be added to those mentioned above. The pianists will, in principle, be required to stay in Yokohama throughout this period.
Application Requirements
(1)Born on or after April 1, 1990; any nationality.
(2)Has won awards in two or more competitions held under the auspices of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC). Exceptions may be made for those who have won awards regarded as equivalent to WFIMC awards.

It is possible to apply using postal mail, but those applying in this way should understand that no documents or other materials submitted will be returned to them.

(1) A color photograph taken within the last six months (torso, front-facing; resolution 300 dpi or greater recommended).
(2) Audio data
- ・Two solo works from different eras, e.g., Classical and Romantic(concerto, ensemble performance not allowed)
- ・Recorded within the last year; the two solos totaling around 40 minutes
- ・Include place and date of recording, name of composer, title of work (including key and opus num-ber), and length of performance,
- ・Upload to a YouTube address designated as limited access and enter the URL on the application form.
- ・Before uploading to YouTube, confirm that consent for performance of this composition has been
received, satisfying all legal requirements under Japanese law and the laws of your country. Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall accepts no responsibility with respect to copyrights for any recording you upload.

(1)Fill in the required items and add a color photograph (torso, front-facing) of yourself.
(2)Audio data
- ・Two solo works from different eras, e.g., Classical and Romantic(concerto, ensemble performance not allowed)
- ・Recorded within the last year; the two solos totaling around 40 minutes
- ・Include place and date of recording, name of composer, title of work (including key and opus num-ber),
and length of performance,
- ・Recorded on CD-R, playable on an ordinary CD player.
- ・Provide MP3 data divided by movement, for example, into the shortest possible tracks. Poorly rec-orded
music will not be included in the judging.

Application period
Applications must arrive at the office of YIPC between September 10 and November 29, 2024 (Japan time).
Notes
・The music used in your application has no bearing on the music you will perform at the concert if accepted.
・The personal information provided in your application will be used only for pianist selection and for holding the Yokohama International Piano Concert. It will be handled as per the Yokohama Arts Foundation privacy policy and guidelines for handling personal data.
・We are unable to respond to queries about the content of the evaluations.

Results
All applicants will be notified of the results by the end of December 2024.

Performance Fee for YIPC
250,000JPY (includes concert, related events, press interviews; if the contract is signed with an individual, withholding tax will be added separately; if the contract is signed with a corporation, consumption tax will be added separately)
- ・A roundtrip economy class ticket will be provided for each performer coming from outside Japan. Travel expenses will not be paid for performers who live in Japan.
- All performers are expected to stay in Yokohama from November 12 to November 17, 2025. The Organizers will arrange and pay for five nights’ accommodation for each performer.
- Performers who reside overseas and will participate in other concerts or competitions while in Japan must request permission from the organizers in advance. Please consult with us for assistance in coordinating travel costs and invitation procedures with the organizers of each event.
